Even if you have all the information, it can still be difficult to plan the perfect visit to Sri Lanka. With the help of some of the coolest locals we know, we’ve put together an itinerary for two days in Sri Lanka, that includes some of the best food, drink and views to be found on southern coast.
For starters, once you land in Colombo, take a taxi and head south towards the coast. The journey should take about two hours. Once you’re there, check into Abode Ahangama and drop off your luggage at one of their beautiful rooms. Freshen up, and it’s time to get cracking on your explorations. Follow this itinerary to the T, or mix and match as per your preferences.
The space at Ajna is both a cafe and a yoga shala, and is just a short walk away from the sea. Drop in for a single class in the morning– and if you’re not sold on the yoga, perhaps just visit their cafe for some delicious dishes to satisfy your post-swim hunger pangs.
This spot is known for its vibrant surfing community, massages, retreats and great coffee. Visit for good vibes, a swim in their pool and, who knows, you might pick up some surfing tips. This is a surfer’s favourite and not to mention, a beautiful place.
How about some of their delectable avomato toast for a late lunch or evening snack? Expect great coffee, healthy food and snacks and great wave checks.
Just a little evening retail therapy. Find everything from clothes and accessories to jewellery and little trinkets to take home for your friends. Browse through the owners’ own brand, Stocks and Supply, which feature ethically made and hand-illustrated products inspired by Sri Lanka.
After a long day out in the sand and sun, turn in for the night at Abode Ahangama, a four-room haven housed in a lovingly restored art deco building. Stay in, nestled within the jungle and just a few minutes away from the sea, and relax at their spa with a spectacular massage.
