The Best Local Food Spots in Mumbai

From fine-dining in a wide range of cuisines to the zing of local flavour, Mumbai has it all. With so many outlets in the city, it can be hard to tell the gems from the mediocre. Well, you’re in luck! With the help of artist and photographer Kosha, we have done the work of identifying some of the best local food spots in Mumbai, and now all you have to do is, well, eat!

  1. Mumbai Devi Jalebiwala

It takes something special to truly satisfy that sweet tooth. If the words jalebi and fafda have your mouth watering, then go no further than this humble spot. Located next to the Mumbaidevi temple, smack-dab in the middle of the bazaar, it doesn’t get more local than this. Eat your jalebis super fresh and piping hot and forget just about everything else.

  1. Pancham Puriwala: Puri and Bhaji

It is widely known that the simpler ideas are usually the best. With puris and aloo bhaji, we have an eternally perfect match. This spot in South Bombay may have other items on offer, but keep it simple with this option and you’ll be content.

  1. Kyani Bakery & Co.

A Bombay institution, this is one of the city’s oldest and most well-known Irani cafes. Visit for a simple chai and khari biscuit, or stop by for a full meal. Visit for just a simple chai and khaki biscuit, hang around for some people watching or stop by for a full meal (and don’t forget to stop for some baked delicacies on your way out)!
